Whomwise

A job search for the United States

Your job search, employer by employer, in your own words.

Whomwise finds the employers that fit you, works out who to write to at each one, and prepares every message with its facts sourced. You read it and send it.

For anyone looking for work in the United States, in any field: students, new graduates, people changing direction, and anyone who'd rather write to a person than send another application into the void.

Four steps. The last one is yours.

01

Directions that fit you

Upload your CV, add your LinkedIn export if you like, and answer six quick questions a CV can't. We read it and suggest where you fit, with typical pay and how often employers there sponsor visas. You see what we found and can correct it.

Employers, with or without a posting

We look past the job boards: employers that fit you and are growing, including small ones that rarely post. We keep watching for new roles.

Dear Priya,

I saw your talk on cutting empty miles, and the part about route data stuck with me…

The numbers

Why start with employersand people.

1 in 7

Roughly one in seven US hires isn't preceded by a job opening.

Davis, Faberman & Haltiwanger, Quarterly Journal of Economics, 2013, from US Bureau of Labor Statistics data, 2001–2006

1.7 vs 0.7

Workplaces with under 50 staff make up to 1.7 hires per posted opening. At 1,000+ staff it's 0.7.

Same study. Smaller employers hire more around their postings.

13×

Referred candidates were 13 times more likely to reach an interview than job-board applicants.

Ashby, 38 million applications, 2021–2024 (40% vs 3%). Referred candidates are pre-screened, so the channel alone doesn't explain the gap.

A message from you isn't a referral. But it reaches a person who can answer, instead of a pile. Whomwise finds the person to write to.

To whom it may concern,Dear Priya,

I saw your talk at the Midwest Freight Forum on cutting empty miles. The part about route data nobody cleans stuck with me.

At my internship I rebuilt that kind of dataset for a 40-truck fleet and cut the weekly report from two days to one hour.

Would you have 15 minutes in the next two weeks? I'd like to hear how your team handles it.

Why this exists

My friend struggled to find a job, so I wanted to build a tool that helps her find a job that fits her visa requirements.

In this economy one must do coldmailing. So we tried AI-based mass-coldmailing but recruiters are drowning in applications written by AI. So this goes the other way: fewer messages, each one personal, every fact with its source, written so it sounds like you and not like AI. And you ultimately send them from your own email by yourself.

We prepare, you send

  • Sending stays with you. We never send email from your account, never apply for you and never message anyone on your behalf.
  • Your mailbox, read-only. Optional, and it can't send, change or delete anything.
  • Every fact checked. The drafts are written with AI and checked in code against the facts we found. They can still be wrong, so you read every one.
  • No promises we can't keep. We can't promise replies or a job. We can save you the research and the blank page.
  • Your data is yours. Download everything or delete everything with one click, any time.
